PHAST coaches and skaters would like to thank our families, friends, sponsors, and followers for the great years we’ve had together. Thank you so much for your unfailing support and encouragement! We could not keep doing what we love without you.
For the 2015-16 season, PHAST (the Pettit High Achievement Speedskating Team) is joining ACE (the Pettit’s Academy of Skating Excellence). That means the Pettit’s two elite teams are becoming one larger, stronger one. We continue to proudly call the Pettit our skating home, and we hope you’ll come out to see us — and maybe skate a lap or two yourself — at the Pettit National Ice Center!
Watch Milwaukee’s own Pettit High Achievement Speedskating Team (PHAST) skaters and coaches fly across the ice at the Pettit National Ice Center. Yeah, it’s as fun as it looks.

Happy skating, everyone!
It’s been a great season for us, with our skaters really amping up their skills, slashing their times, and developing mental toughness. Our coaches produced impressive results while adding to their years of experience. And everyone walked away feeling accomplished.
PHAST would like to extend our deepest thanks to the Pettit National Ice Center for its unwavering commitment to this team and the sport. We’d also like to thank fellow skaters, coaches, officials, volunteers, family, and friends for their generous encouragement and support.
Have a great off season, everyone!
Today wrapped up Age Group Pack Nationals in Roseville, Minnesota, and we’re proud to say that every PHAST Skater there left with a pin or medallion!
Jacob took second in his two races today to earn two race pins and place second overall in his age division. He earned a silver medallion. Sydney placed fourth in one of her race today to get this snazzy looking pin. Her skating is going nowhere but up. Nathaniel, along with Jacob, Joel, and Harry (the latter two of whom are not PHAST members but often train with PHAST), skated the team pursuit to a fourth place finish and also snagged snazzy black pins. Silvia took second and third in her two races today to win silver overall in her division.
For some PHASTies, this was their final meet of the year. Others have one more, the final Am Cup this weekend held at the Pettit National Ice Center. We couldn’t be happier with how the season’s gone, and wish the skaters well for the final push.
PHAST would like to thank all other club skaters, coaches, and parents for making for a great competition. We’d also like to extend big thanks to the Roseville Oval, its workers and volunteers, and the crew at CTV for putting on a smooth, fun event and steaming it online for the world to see.
So far, skater Sydney, Nathaniel, and Jacob are competing really well. Sydney’s showing a new style that’s making her look fantastic out on the ice, and it’s clear that she’s putting out stronger pressure in her turns every day. Nathaniel’s keeping really nice form, skating well, and having a fun time out here, which is so much of what the sport should be about. Jacob’s looking fierce and took silver in two of his three distances today. Coach Silvia had to work hard for her two silvers and one bronze.
It’s great to be able to talk about Roseville without mentioning subzero temps and wind chills in the negative double digits. Saturday was in the teens and sunny. Nice skating weather.
Two more distances tomorrow.
(Aired February 16, 2014, on TODAY’S TMJ4 – WTMJ-TV Milwaukee).
William and Samantha both took bronze in the 500 meter samalog. In the overall rankings (which take into account four of the total five races completed over the course of the meet), Sam and Jacob took second place honors while William earned third. Antonia finished with fourth place overall. Daniel elected to not race every distance and so was not ranked but still skated excellent times.
Congrats, PHAST skaters, for an excellent showing this weekend, and many thanks to meet officials and volunteers for all their hard work to make these events possible!
Day two of the U.S. Junior Long Track Championships brought even better results for PHAST skaters in the two Olympic-style distances raced, the 1000 and 3000 meter.
William and Sam each earned third place in their 1000 races with personal best times. And the 3000 brought even higher podium standings. Samantha skated a decisive gold, as did Jacob for silver, both skating personal bests.
Antonia placed fourth in both distances, snagging personal bests, and Daniel clinched a PB in his single race of the day, the 1000 meter.
Congrats to all PHAST skaters — and all those competing — for their great performances and contagious enthusiasm!
